The now-defunct Cold War Air Museum had two airworthy examples of these distinctive Soviet helicopters for public display and airshow performances. During an aviation photography event in 2015, we were treated to an flight demonstration of these Rambo-esque aircraft.  This Soviet-era gunship, entering service in 1972, was designed to provide both fire support and infantry transport, a unique combination among combat helicopters. Still in production with over 2,600 delivered, this helicopter is in use with 58 countries. Sadly, the Museum would close sometime later in 2015.
