Microtel by Wyndham Luisita, Tarlac is the only chain hotel in the area, and being a member of the Wyndham Hotel Group, it follows such international standards as brands like Ramada and Planet Hollywood—albeit with fewer features and amenities. Staying there for a couple of nights, however, I can vouch that it can provide the necessary traveler needs.
The hotel is located in Tarlac City and within the confines of Hacienda Luisita, a vast sugar plantation that extends across several towns in the province of Tarlac. Getting there is thankfully easy, as the plantation is easily connected to the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) via a dedicated exit on the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx).
Much can be explored in the area, such as the Aquino Center and the Luisita Golf and Country Club. SM City Tarlac, Robinsons Luisita, and the city center can be reached by driving or public transportation. while other Tarlac towns can be accessed and explored easily too.
Arriving early, we were welcomed by a hospitable set of frontline staff who readily handed our respective card keys. I honestly found the service of the hotel staff to be efficient and friendly throughout the trip. I never encountered a problem in dealing with them.
Our room was smaller than those from bigger hotels, but it was laid out in a careful manner that space is maximized. While the room afforded space for a chiropractor-approved double bed with high-quality sheets and fluffy pillows, a window seat, a desk, a closet with television laid on top, and a toilet and shower, it didn’t feel cramped. And the minimal décor and neutral colors made me feel less tired after a day of touring.
Breakfast at Liquid Restaurant was something I looked forward to every start of our day. The selection admittedly wasn’t big, yet it was mostly Filipino comfort food. Worth a special mention is their pork adobo (soy-vinegar stew).
Checking out their website, I saw that their nightly rates can easily fit travelers’ budgets, so to those needing a great budget hotel to base in conveniently while exploring Tarlac, do book a night or two at Microtel by Wyndham Luisita, Tarlac.
