An emulator is a device which enables the user to run the previous programs of any system on the updated system ensuring all the previous and the new features. Microsoft is planning to come up with an Xbox 360 emulator for Xbox’s recent launch Xbox One. An Xbox 360 emulator is a device that will simulate or emulate the games and other features of Xbox 360 to run them successfully on Xbox One. Generally emulators more specifically are used to run previous or old games on newer version systems.

An Xbox 360 emulator will serve the purpose of not only connecting the old games into newer system but it will also play a wide range of games and arcade systems, classic console systems, etc. The device will have 286/386 DOS emulator which will enable the user to play old games even if they are not compatible with the latest PCs.

Xbox 360 Emulator for Xbox One?

Microsoft has revealed that they are planning to come up with an Xbox 360 emulator which will facilitate the titles of Xbox 360 to run successfully on Xbox One systems. Frank Savage, the lead in partner development spoke about these plans at Microsoft’s Build developer conference that was held last week for addressing about Windows technology and Xbox One.

Frank Savage was questioned by one of the audience members that whether they are planning for an Xbox 360 emulator on Xbox One. He said, “There are, but we’re not done thinking them through yet, unfortunately. It turns out to be hard to emulate the PowerPC stuff on the X86 stuff. So there’s nothing to announce, but I would love to see it myself.”

The gamers of Xbox One indeed found it difficult to play their Xbox 360 games on their present device. As a result a gap was found out post research. The gamers addressed this issue after Xbox One reached amongst the masses. Hence, to address and bridge this gap, Microsoft has decided to come up with an Xbox 360 emulator that can solve this particular issue. The team addressed the need and importance of “backward compatibility” for bridging this gap. It ensures successful running of older games on this new console all together. Xbox will be seen to be making a first move as Sony has still not come with an emulator for its PlayStation 4. However, it has been speculated that someday it will also come up with its emulator for making its older Play stations compatible.

Albert Penello, the senior director at Microsoft informed that Xbox one can successfully offer backward compatibility via Azure cloud servers. While referring to Sony’s technology he said, “It could be more complicated things like rendering full games like a Gaikai and delivering it to the box. We just have to figure out how, over time, how much does that cost to deliver, how good the experience is.”

Ben Vanik of Microsoft has posted a video which demonstrates the functioning if Xbox 360 emulator on PC.
