Michael Bay Is Producing A Live-Action “Dora The Explorer” Movie

Dora the Explorer will be getting a grown-up live-action treatment courtesy of Michael Bay’s production company, Platinum Dunes. To borrow from Dora herself, can you say, “This will be a mess? Un desastre?

Deadline says that the live-action Dora the Explorer will center around a teenage Dora who moves to the city to live with her cousin Diego. The script will be written by Nick Stoller, who wrote Sex Tape and Neighbors 2. No word on what happens once Dora gets to the big city, but if it involves hanging out with the wrong crowd and getting suspended for vaping at school, the real-life voice of Dora could help advise Nick on that. Dora the Explorer will be released sometime in 2019.

Nickelodeon already gave Dora an unnecessary grown-up makeover back in 2009, so I guess it was only a matter of time before they gave her the teen treatment. Although I don’t know how many parents out there will want to explain to their kids what’s going on with Michael Bay’s Dora. Like why Diego is now a buff hunk. Or why Swiper the Fox is played by a human named Megan Fox. Or why Boots is a flame thrower. Yes, just a weapon. Maybe he’ll talk, we’re not sure yet.

Dora on the other hand, will probably look the same. She’ll still be wearing a child’s pink crop top and the same little orange shorts, which will be perfect for when Michael Bay decides Dora should interview for a position at Hooters. I’m sure Ariel Winter has already sent in her audition tape:
