‘Metaverse Seoul’ Closed Beta Debuts for Selected Users

The Seoul Municipal Government has released a pilot version of “Metaverse Seoul,” a virtual world which mimics the real-life South Korean city for select users. In Metaverse Seoul, users can perform various functions, some aimed at training. Below are all more information.

In the pilot version of Seoul’s metaverse, users can discover realistic virtual spaces, like Seoul City Hall and Seoul Plaza. In addition, users can meet with professors and teachers for virtual training sessions. The Seoul government aims to have a fully functional Seoul metaverse for all city services by 2026.

Park Jung-soo, of Seoul’s Smart City Policy Office, stated that the metaverse is getting attention as a “new paradigm” for the post-Covid-19 world. He also said that it is being developed due to the participation and demand of users.

Based on the stories that were covered this year, South Korea perhaps be one of the next hot spots for the metaverse. Plus the Seoul metaverse, the whole country has committed more than $100 M to invest in the metaverse, especially in the field of education. Cities compete for Metaverse leadership positions

As Seoul’s push into the metaverse is appealing news, it’s surly not the only city vying for a metaverse leadership position. • The city of Miami. The self-proclaimed cryptocurrency in the US lately released an NFT series. 56 artists contributed to the series of 5,000 ETH NFTs, a tribute to Miami’s 56 square miles.

• Dubai. Web3’s Middle East hub lately announced plans to add 40,000 metaverse jobs over the next 5 years. This strategy promotes Web3 in tourism, retail, education, healthcare, telecommuting and much more.

• Beverly Hills. Two months ago, the city filed for seven trademark applications related to Web3, involving NFTs and digital collectibles. The trademarks may allow the city to host virtual events such as concerts and metaverse experiences as well.

Seoul is definitely putting a lot of money and effort into becoming a metaverse leader on the city level. It aims to bring the metaverse to its citizens, is appealing.
