The threat of phishing is one of the issues that NFT holders must continually be on guard against. Unfortunately, this has occurred with NFTs of all rarities. Now, Dan Finlay, the founder of MetaMask, is providing NFT holders with a new tool called MobyMask to fight this issue.
How This Tool Helps NFTs
This program, which was announced on November 15, 2022 and developed in collaboration with the Laconic Network, enables people and organizations to quickly get a copy of the MobyMask anti-phishing registry. Having a copy of this registry will make avoiding known phishers much simpler.
While the tool is still in its infancy, the official announcement hints that further enhancements are forthcoming.
“The current version of MobyMask focuses on twitter phishing, but eventually will expand to any kind of phishing, like websites, smart contracts, and new social media platforms,” it said.
Twitter is a major source of phishing schemes, and even official accounts have been hacked to spread them, so this is a good place to begin. In addition, given how many NFTs are lost to phishing schemes each year, the industry has a great need for this tool.
