Welcome to Day 2 of Getting My Groove Back
Do you menu plan? If not, you should really give it a try.
I have a weekly dry erase calendar on my fridge. It started several years back (about the time we began Dave Ramsey) when I would plan out our menu for about 2 weeks. We would go to the grocery store and buy everything we needed for those 2 weeks and not go back unless it was a necessity like milk, etc.
Over this past summer we ate out a whole lot. Since school has started we are eating at home or trying to every school night. Sometimes, depending on if something is planned it is easier to meet somewhere but for the most part eating at home saves a LOT of headaches aka meltdowns from exhausted children. Not to mention the money we save!
I typically get home at 6pm after getting off and picking up SK. By this time we are all hungry. Or starving for SK who you would think had not eaten breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks prior to being picked up from school!
It is so easy to go grab something if we don't have a plan. We have been doing so much better over the past few weeks but this month I am determined to kick it up a notch and plan out even better.
I made our menu out (1 week menu this time) from what was in the pantry and freezer. We went to the store and should have more than enough for our week of meals.
