Facebook has released a new app for iOS devices, called Facebook Mentions, but it’s aimed at a specific group of users only – celebrities. The new app should make it easier for famous people to communicate with their fans.
Facebook’s introduced a new celebrities-only app – Mentions.
Nowadays, most celebrities use social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc.) to connect with their fans, which is what inspired Facebook to create such an app. Facebook product manager, Allison Swope, said that more than a billion interactions take place between famous people and their devoted fans every week.
Mentions allows its users to see a Twitter-like stream of posts that, well, mention them and they can also find trending topics that they might want to engage in. Mentions also comes with an option to hold a live Q&A session with fans. According to Swope, (if you’re a celebrity) you’ll be able to easily:
– Share your story by posting updates, sharing photos or videos, or hosting a live Q&A.
– Join popular conversations on Facebook and see the latest posts from people you follow.
– Get streamlined notifications about your posts, including mentions from other influencers or the media.
Mentions will allows celebrities to interact with their fans more easily.
Facebook Mentions is currently only available for iOS users and people with verified pages (not personal profiles) in the US. They can request access either online or through the app itself. Facebook said that it will start granting access to users in other countries soon enough.
