The legendry singer was suffering from respiratory disorders and was heading to US for treatment. During a stay in Bahrain her conditioned aggravated and she was rushed to a nearby hospital but she couldn’t survive and breathed her last there.
The daughter of celebrated sub-continental singer Kajjan Begum sang more than 2,500 songs in a variety of genres like thumri, dadra, ghazal, drupad and khayal. Moreover, she also recited several Noha, Marsiya and Salam.
Mehnaz Begum didn’t get married and had been living with her brother in United States for many years.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf have expressed grief and sorrow over her demise.
