Meet the (True Blood) Scooby Gang

Cast your mind back to when you were a kid – remember the Scooby Doo Show? You may even be a Buffy fan familiar with the endearing term “The Scooby Gang”. Well in this week’s episode “Let’s boot and rally” True Blood brought us it’s own particular version of a group of mismatched misfits venturing into a creepy dark building to try to find the big, old, bad guy.

And it’s not just the fans who have noticed the “gang”, Rolling Stone have even named all the characters in their recap of the show. But who do you think should be who? Before we see how Rolling Stone rolled with it, let’s remind ourselves of the original members of “The Scooby Gang”.

FRED – Tall, blonde, handsome, impeccably dressed, tends to be a bit bossy and doesn’t like being told he is wrong.

VELMA – Intelligent, brave, opinionated, has to put up with Scooby a lot and keep him well fed

DAPHNE – Bubble headed, slightly irritating, never has a great deal positive to contribute, often hangs on to Fred to try to make herself look cooler

SHAGGY – Lovable, scruffy, close to Scooby, will run off at the first sign of trouble

SCOOBY – He’s a dog!

Now see if your ideas match those of Rolling Stone.

I wish I were kidding, but “Let’s Boot and Rally” really was an adult version of Scooby-Doo. We had five people, Sookie (Velma), Alcide (Scooby), Eric (Fred), Bill (Daphne – sorry, dude) and Alcide’s employee Doug (Shaggy), take a ride in the Mystery Machine (a.k.a. Alcide’s van) to a straight-out-of-a-horror-movie location to capture the scary villain (Russell).

Pretty spot on I would say!
