Meet A Drag Queen (or Two) at Comfort Cases Fundraiser!

By Designerdaddy @DesignerDaddy

If you’ve read this blog for any amount of time, you know Comfort Cases is one of my all-time favorite organizations. Founded by my dear friend Rob Scheer, Comfort Cases provides overnight cases and other personal items to kids in the foster care system. The charity was inspired by the fact that Rob, his own four children, and millions of other kids arrive at foster homes with very few belongings, typically stuffed into garbage bags. #NoMoreTrashBags

This Thanksgiving weekend, Comfort Cases is helping boost spirits (and hoping to raise LOTS of money) with an AMAZING drag show featuring two of the sparkling stars of RuPaul’s Drag RaceMrs. Kasha Davis and Tatianna!

THE DEETS:

Saturday, November 25 at Town Danceboutique. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are $50 a person, and all proceeds benefit Comfort Cases. This is a 21 and over event. All tickets are general admission, so seating is first come, first served. Drag show virgins: BRING DOLLAR BILLS, Y’ALL (Here’s more helpful drag show tips)

Look, I know this is Thanksgiving weekend and all, but can you think of any better counter-programming to ALL THE DAMN FOOTBALL than this?!? Leave the dude-bros to their sportsball, grab your favorite girlfriends/boyfriends, and head to Town to raise a ruckus and some money for a great cause!

THE BACKSTORY

Now that you’ve got your tickets and have entered the giveaway, aren’t you wondering how these fabulous queens get connected with the fabulous folks at Comfort Cases? As they say in the business, here’s the T…

“It was a regular day in suburban life when I stumbled upon a video posted by The Ellen Show about Comfort Cases and Rob. Needless to say, I felt the passion, heart, and honesty in their story. Through my tear-drenched face and with a full heart, I messaged saying I’d love to be involved in any way possible.

Although drag queens and their fans may not necessarily be foster kids, they do understand what it’s like to be left out, different, alone… or in some cases pushed aside by their families like trash, just because they are different. I personally share that experience, and knew I wanted to help.

My husband and I were lucky enough to visit the Scheer family home, where we were welcomed with open arms and a magnificent energy of love and acceptance by the entire family — as well as dogs, cats, goats, chickens, and frogs!

Isn’t warm, welcoming love and acceptance what we are all searching for in life?”

If that doesn’t melt your icy winter heart, I don’t know what will. Oh yeah, COCKTAILS. And also laughter and love and all that other stuff.

So GO BUY YOUR TICKETS, have a Happy Thanksgiving, and hope to see you at the show! (I’d say I’d save you a seat, but I’m afraid you’re on your own, hon.)
