Meditation and Energy Work

Hello out there.  Tony here, and I apologize for my absence for I have been selfishly busy with school and work.  But don't you worry, I have a real special treat for you today...my very first vlog interview!  When I went back home this summer in Wisconsin I did a lot of running around and engaged in some new experiences.  One of those experiences was breaking out of my introverted shell and meeting new people.  Thanks to expanding my social horizons I met this pretty cool cat who goes by the name Dekamiva (DE-kuh-MEE-vuh) who taught me a thing or two about meditation and energy work.
Before I share my video with you I want to tell you my story on how I began meditation.  About 5 years ago I was struggling with depression, anxiety, and focus.  It seemed that no matter what I was doing my mind was always racing and I couldn't center my attention for the life of me.  I know, I sound like a big baby right now, but I know there's many people out there who battle with the same thing and I hope I can help a few people out there by sharing this blog.
When I finally felt like I hit rock bottom I went into my local VA and got some help.  The therapist there recommended I join their yoga class to learn proper breathing techniques, stretches, and most important: meditation.  I took me a while to get used to it (major attention deficit disorder) but after some time I noticed a sense of calmness in my body and mind.  I wasn't worrying as much, my mind was more present, and overall my mood was improved.  I was able to concentrate better while reading books and working on projects.  Thanks to a lot of research on the Google and Youtube machine I found that there is so much to learn about meditation and energy work.
Thanks to the law of attraction the universe brought me and this spiritual individual together.  Dekamiva said he felt this vibe off of me that made him want to share his experiences with me.  I was all ears when he spoke about meditation, proper breathing techniques, astral projection (be careful with that one), and so much more.  Dekamiva had me hooked that night so much to the point I forgot about time and the sun was up already.  Unfortunately I had to leave, but he was more than willing to Skype with me and not only that, let me record it to share with you!
So before I share my video, there is a new breathing technique that I learned from Dekamiva.  I normally inhale for 5 seconds, pause for 1 second, exhale for 5 seconds, and pause for 1 second; about 5-10 times.  This type of breathing helps me relax and clear my mind.  One thing I learned from my yoga instructor is that if you want to energize yourself you take long inhales and short exhales.  If you want to relax or fall asleep you must take short inhales and long exhales.
A new type of breathing I learned from Dekamiva is called the mind awake body asleep technique. This is a 4x breathing where you inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, exhale for 4 seconds, and hold for 4 seconds.  You want to practice this breathing 10 times while focusing on a part of your body (your big toe, finger tip) which allows you to get in touch with your ambient body energy.  Ever since our Skype session I do this breathing technique every morning and also during long car rides.  Here's our video: https://youtu.be/qovNpAkg3vo
