MediaTek MT6893 chipset is spotted on Geekbench with an unknown device named alps k6893v1_64, which might be a test phone. As it, specifications leaked earlier which specifies that the processor will be based on a 6nm fabrication process and has eight cores including 1 x 3.0GHz Cortex-A78 large core + 3 x 2.6GHz Cortex-A78 large core + 4 x 2.0GHz Cortex-A55 small cores.
The chipset comes integrated with Arm Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. A reliable Chinese tipster named Digital Chat station shared the Geekbench listing on Weibo. However, the new chipset is a big upgrade over the 7nm based MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chipset. The Dimensity 1000+ has 4 x Cortex-A77 cores and 4 x Cortex-A55 cores while the upcoming MT6893 has four large Cortex-A78 cores that provide a significant boost in performance.
MediaTek MT6893 will provide an upgraded upload and download speeds on the 5G network as well. The processor will come with another chipset codenamed MT6891 and this chipset will also come with 5G connectivity and performance Cortex-A78 cores.
MediaTek MT6893 vs Snapdragon 865 vs MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ scores
MediaTek MT6893 is able to grab 886 in single-cores and 2948 in multi-cores while the Dimensity 1000+ on Redmi K30 Ultra scores 765 in the single-core test and 2874 in multi-cores on Geekbench 5. On the other hand, Snapdragon 865 on Oneplus 8 get 886 in single-cores and 3104 in multi-cores. The upcoming MediaTek chipset completely beats the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ in both single-core and multi-core performance while gets equal single-core scores and a little fewer multi-scores if compared to Snapdragon 865.
The benchmark performance changes from one device to another device so we can’t tell the exact performance comparison it may be possible that MediaTek MT6893 will completely beat the Snapdragon 865 but for now, we can say that the upcoming MediaTek chipset is pretty comparable to Qualcomm Snapdragon 865.
