McIntosh Pastaval – Winner Announced!

By Emma @glasgowfoodie

Sweet dreams are made of cheese, who am I to dis a brie?

Yesterday saw the third ever Pastaval as part of the Southside Fringe. This year we partnered up with McIntosh of Strathmore again to bring you McIntosh Pastaval Southside 2017!!!

We were all set at McIntosh Pastaval HQ AKA reigning champion, The Butterfly and the Pig South, with the bags lined up and ready for collection by over 250 participants who are the judges on the day.

Mr Macaroni was in high spirits whilst waiting for ticket holders to arrive.

Soon McIntosh Pastaval was in full swing with attendees visiting the five competing venues.

These were: The Butterfly and the Pig South, Waverley Tearoom, Millbrae Hill Cafe, The Bungo and Buddy's.

Mr Macaroni visited each venue to try out their mac n cheese. First up was starting point The Butterfly And The Pig.

Then onto The Bungo ...

Then a stop at Buddy's Diner ...

Then a sunny Waverley Tea Room ...

Finally stopping Millbrae Hill Cafe.

As you can see he was a popular man!

Scotland's finest from Cathcart Police Station also stopped for a quick photo.

And he made many more friends along the way!

The scorecards were returned by participants and counted up. Time to get to the winning venue to hand over the trophy!

This was a well-deserved win for The Bungo, they received great feedback on their mac and cheese.

The final results were:

1st - The Bungo

2nd - Waverley Tearooms

3rd - Millbrae Hill Cafe

4th - Butterfly and the Pig South

5th - Buddy's

Thank you to all who took part, the venues, the mac n cheese eaters and to Mr Macaroni!

Due to the success of the day we are donating to ' Yes Chef!' Which is a programme which sees six young men supported by Action for Children 's 'Moving On' service learn to cook from scratch before preparing a meal for hundreds of guests at a top hotel in Glasgow. These young men, who spent time in prison at an early age, are being supported by the charity to transform their lives, learn new skills and hopefully gain employment.

Thank you!!!
