Posted on the 19 July 2017 by Ripplemusic

Maya Jane Coles is set to release her second studio album Take Flight, due out August 25 on her own label I/AM/ME via Skint Records/BMG. Take Flight is her most substantial body of work to date and is the long-awaited follow-up to her debut album Comfort (2013) and her Nocturnal Sunshine project (2015).
Take Flight will be released in the US on digital and vinyl formats. Fans can pre-order the album HERE. The two tracks "Won't Let You Down" and "Cherry Bomb" are available now for streaming and instant download with the full album iTunes pre-order.
Take Flight has been preceded by the critically-acclaimed EP Won’t Let You Down, which is receiving worldwide support from DJs in the clubs and on the radio - Pete Tong made the title track his “Essential New Tune." Featuring remixes of "Won’t Let You Down" from Catz ’n Dogz and Paride Saranceni, "Cherry Bomb," plus "Round In Circles," the EP’s various tracks saw premieres with Wonderland, Mixmag, Complex, Groove, and Huffington Post. A further EP entitled Weak/Werk will drop imminently!
Maya is an enigma in today’s music world. On this album – as with all her releases – she has written, produced, engineered, arranged, mixed, and performed every track, even designing the artwork herself.
Opening track "Weak" kicks off the album with sublime soundscapes and low-slung drums, with title track "Take Flight" offering a trip-hop inspired beat with a psychedelic twist. In addition, the album sees guest appearances from acoustic-songwriter Chelou on "Darkside," which is slow, vivid and totally immersive. Wendy Rae Fowler (of We Fell To Earth) sings on "A Chemical Affair" and "Misty Morning," with GAPS singing on the track that follows entitled "Keep Me Warm."
From the high octane "Passing Me By" to the visceral "Trails," Take Flight offers an eclectic selection of immersive tracks that are certain to excite old and new fans alike, all over the world.
Maya has already experienced a phenomenal year of global gigs, starting with a double-header at Coachella in April and UK festivals such as Parklife and Wildlife, as well as on going appearances throughout the Summer in Ibiza at Ushuaia and Pacha. Maya is also on the road this July supporting electronic titans Depeche Mode on the European leg of their tour. Additional upcoming festival appearances include Tomorrowland (Belgium), SW4 (UK), Creamfields (UK) and Rock in Rio (Brazil), amongst others.
To date, Maya has played in over 40 countries worldwide, released mix compilations for DJ Kicks and Fabric Live, been sampled on Nicki Minaj’s mega hit “Truffle Butter,” as well as remixed artists from The XX, Bonobo, and Little Dragon.. to Florence & The Machine, Sam Smith and Ella Fitzgerald.
