Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday (6) ordered that one of the two Army persons, arrested over the violent incidents on May 9, should be placed in the custody of the military.
The Magistrate observed that the said suspect had not officially left the military service.
Meanwhile, the Magistrate also granted bail on these two suspects after being produced before an identification parade.They were released on two sureties of Rs.500,000 each.
An army officer requested Court to hand over the suspect to the Army, claiming that the suspect had not left the Army in accordance with regulations.
Lahiru Weerasekera and several others who were currently out on bail,also appeared before Court. The Magistrate ordered the police to report the progress into the case on the next calling date and fixed further inquiries for August 26.
