Matar Paneer | Green Peas Cottage Cheese Masala | Paneer Recipes

Paneer week is this i think and am going to post paneer recipes this week and i drafted so many recipes and here am posting the second paneer delicacy after paneer lababdar.Paneer recipes are really easy to make and they will finish off within seconds.Here the paneer is easily available and am experimenting with that now and that is my favorite ingredient too.Stay tuned for more recipes here...
Matar means peas in which matar is the word for peas.You can make the recipe with green peas,yellow peas, or dy peas too.I used fresh green peas here and cubed paneer with dry version here.I served this with rice and paratha on that day.Making the recipe is so easy and this need usual ingredients as other paneer recipes.Here i used the onion as minced one and added tomato puree here.This is really a healthy accompaniment with fresh peas and paneer.I used store bought paneer and you can also use homemade paneer.Click the recipe for homemade paneer here.Lets move on making the recipe..

Matar Paneer(2 Persons)

Ingredients for making

  1. Green peas or matar - 1 cup
  2. Paneer (diced into cubes)- 1 cup
  3. Onion - 2 minced
  4. Tomatoes -3 pureed
  5. Red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  6. Coriander powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  7. cumin powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  8. Milk - 3 teaspoons
  9. Cloves - 2 numbers
  10. Cardamom - 1 pod
  11. cinnamon stick - 1/4 inch
  12. Ginger garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
  13. Oil - as needed
  14. Salt - as needed
  15. Coriander leaves 

How to make

  • Heat oil in the pan and add cloves,cinnamon stick,cardamom pods.After they splutter add minced onions and saute it.
  • Now add ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell leaves.
  • Now add tomato puree and cook until the oil separates.
  • Now add all the spice powders red chilli powder,cumin powder,coriander powder and mix well.

  • Take fresh green peas and add it to the gravy.
  • Boil for 2 minutes.Cover with lid and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add 3 teaspoons of milk and mix well.Cook in low flame.


  • Now add the paneer and mix well.
  • Cover again with the lid to cook for 2 minutes again.


  • Finally add coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
  • Serve with parathas and rotis.

Tips

  • Use kasuri methi if required.
  • Use hing for little aroma.
