Martin Aircraft’s Personal Jetpack to Hit Stores This Year

After running through a series of tests, Martin Aircraft is now preparing to launch the world’s first “practical” commercial Jetpack in mid-2014. That’s right, flying your own jetpack to work or school can happen sooner than you think.

According to Inhabitat, Martin Jetpack can hit a top speed of 46 mph (74kph) and is able to stay in the air for about 30 minutes, enough to travel 20 miles. It can also reach max height of 3000ft. Initially the jetpacks will be used for rescue, fire, and police missions before going public. It’s slated to cost about $100,000 USD. Just make sure you get some life-insurance before trying it out.

Even though the Martin Jetpack look like two upside-down jetski’s put together, I think it’s great to finally see this concept become a reality. With some more improvements it might even replace personal airplanes.

So, are you going to start saving to get one of these?
