When Marco Rubio gave the Republican response to Obama's 2013 SOTU, he got thirsty and took a swig of water in the midst of his speech. Viewers were all atwitter, literally on Twitter, with tweet after tweet talking about the sip of water, as documented in Politico's article headlined with "Marco Rubio's Drinking Problem."
(Rubio's entire speech, via video, found here)
Media outlets jumped on the bandwagon, instead of discussing the content of the speech, they all focused on that sip of water, Newsbuster's catching the most absurd question from the media coming from CNN's Wolf Blitzer asking if that drink of water would "break" his career, with the CNN caption below reading "Career-Ender?

Rubio, showing he has a sense of humor, took it all in good spirits and even laughed along with interviewers over it, telling Good Morning America "God has a funny way of reminding us that we're human."
Not only did Rubio show a sense of humor, but he also showed the ability to capitalize on the media's absurd fascination with his thirst, and now Rubio is laughing all the way to the bank to deposit $100,00 dollars from selling Rubio Water Bottles, 3,100 of them so far.

Via TheHill:
Rubio’s PAC, Reclaim America, quickly put up a “Marco Rubio Water Bottle” for sale.
“Send the liberal detractors a message that not only does Marco Rubio inspire you… he hydrates you too,” said the website selling the bottle.

It is not often a politician shows that he can beat the media hacks and take something they try to harm him politically with and turn it into a winning strategy, but Rubio just proved he has that ability in abundance.
