The Mangyo’ngdae Children’s Camp, which was under renovation, reopened on June 6 (Monday) following a ceremony. Attending the ceremony were Kim Su Gil (Chairman of the Pyongyang Workers’ Party of Korea [WPK] City Committee and alternate [candidate] member of the WPK Political Bureau), Ri Il Hwan (Director of the WPK Workers’ and Social Organizations Department), Cha Hui Rim (Chairman of the Pyongyang City People’s Committee), WPK and DPRK Government cadres, officials and functionaries of institutes of education and workers’ and social organizations, Mangyo’ngdae Children’s Camp employees and campers, Pyongyang Korean Children’s Union [KCU] members and construction shock brigade personnel.
Kim Su Gil delivered a speech reopening the camp, saying “the camp is the product of the noble view of the great Generalissimos Kim Il Sung (Kim Il-so’ng) and Kim Jong Il (Kim Cho’ng-il) and Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) on the rising generation.” Camp managers and employees also delivered remarks, after which ceremony participants looked toured the camp. Then, the camp’s first session began and included KCU members from middle (junior secondary) schools in Pyongyang and the children of employees in the DPRK’s military (munitions) industries. Campers presented floral bouquets and baskets and paid their respects at an icon mosaic of Kim Il Sung visiting the camp.
