Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Public Beta Is Free To Download

It has been long presumed that most Anti-virus programs are waste. And all the new ‘Internet Security’ Programs are too complicated to use. The safest bet for a Windows user is to use the most basic possible PC protection Microsoft Essentials ( Windows Defender ). Arguably it is one of the most easy to use and robust software for PC protection but it just isn’t enough to give you a complete protection.

Here is where we look out for better Security solution softwares. There are a few options out of which Malwarebyes Anti-Malware turns out to be an excellent one. As of now the company provides two protection softwares. One if most basic free model and other is the paid model which costs $24.95 for a lifetime license. You can buy the Pro version here or the free version with a 14-day Pro Trial is available here.

Anti-Malware 2.0 Public Beta

But we aren’t here to talk about the old 1.x model, Malwarebytes has announced their first public beta of Anti-Malware 2.0. The beta version is free to try till its in beta.

I would highly recommend you to jump on the ship and try this if you aren’t satisfied with whatever security software you are using right now. The new version has changed completely from the previous version. Not only it has a new revamped user interface but has a lot of other details just very handy.

Despite being a very comprehensive software it still keeps all the available protection options handy, easy to use thus keep your PC protection at a higher priority. As soon as you install it, it would immediately update the database and request you to scan and keep your PC protected. In the earlier version all the different protection scans were laid out differently and you had to choose what to scan and use. But the new 2.0 has now integrated anti-rootkit and chameleon self-protection into the basic scanner.
You should enable the ‘Scan for rootkits’ option which can be found in Settings > Detection and Protection > Enable Scan for Rootkits.

The new version has a much improved x64 support which mean no more unintentional scan cancels and freezing application issues. The Malicious Website Protection is enabled by default which is a good thing but if you download a lot of files from Torrent it is better to disable it when you turn ON your torrent client.

You can download the beta version from the download link provided below and use the license key and id has provided.

Public Beta Download Link

Public Beta License Key :
id: MBAM2BETA
key: 4XZHE-6ANRN-TKWCV-EV6HZ-G79PH

I’ll keep updating the link and license details as soon as its updated on their forum but If the link or license key doesn’t work you can simply find the update information here.
Note : This is a beta release, so it goes without saying that it might be a bit unstable. On our initial use it worked perfectly. There was no issue whatsoever. Safe to say it worked perfectly and much better than the older version.

Subscription based model

Post beta, the new version once pushed to a final release will be moving to a subscription based model. The premium subscription price would be $24.95 per year. This is mainly to cover the companies’ hosting, bandwidth, infrastructure and salaries of their researchers who help you keep your computer protected from all sorts of viruses, trojans and malwares. These licenses are valid for 3 PCs instead of 1.

Lifetime licenses ?

If you are interested in buying a lifetime licenses MalwareBytes would be selling a few thousand lifetime licenses at launch so keep a watch when they go live. And if you already own a lifetime license of MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, then you old 1.x version license will still work for 2.x version and you will get all the updates and the new updated protection in your license copy.

As of now the company is only selling a lifetime licenses, so if you like this software I would recommend you buy right now while it has its lifetime license option on sale. Once the 2.0 version is released they will move to the subscription based model. Since they will honor the lifetime license and provide update to the old 1.x users too, buying the license now would be the best deal you can get for your copy of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software.
