The Maldivian island resort of Bundos had an overhaul in 2005, with some accommodation and expansion of its facilities. The resort's look and feel provide a good balance between casual and formal style. The reception has a wealth of modern amenities such as a modern hot spot, conference hall, plasma TV etc. but it has not affected the tropical beauty of the island which is not compromised at all with the serene accommodation and private beach areas. Shaded by elongated palms and other tropical flora.
The resort has made a lot of efforts to accommodate families, with a purpose-built childcare facility to look after children as well as to provide babysitting in the evenings if necessary. Some rooms in the standard and junior class have an interconnecting door for families who need to be split between multiple rooms. The resort is popular with families, so children who are not old enough may find their age to play with other children, possibly to participate in some older activities.
The main bar and coffee shop are kept well near the water, and the bar is often a hive of activity until the early hours of the morning. Restaurants, while not particularly inspiring in their decor, serve a variety of dishes. Visitors with young children should know that the lagoon deepens very quickly.
the verbsWithout one of the main dive centers in the Maldives, Bandos is without doubt, not least because it has one of the few dissolution rooms in the country. It offers comprehensive courses ranging from absolute beginner open water courses to specialist re-breath courses. The snorkeling is very good and you can smell the whole way around the island. The dive center here is both a platinum facility for the International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers and a PADI Gold Palm Resort.
The accommodationThere are 48 junior suites arranged in groups with shared gardens. These are adorned with a yellow and ocher color scheme, solid wood four-poster bed and a sense of style, making them very friendly. The only downside is, as far as we can experience, the beach in this section of the resort is almost completely submerged in high tide, but this is the smallest thing I should think about. There are 84 standard rooms adjoining the beach and 19 additions that are not in front of the beach. These alternate between double and twin bed layouts to provide for families again. They are pleasantly furnished with tiled floors and balconies. You might consider the bathroom to be a bit smaller. Some of these rooms are facing west at sunset and are one of the best sections of the beach.
Villas between 48 circular shapes are the latest accommodation to be added to the resort. Each is two storeys, with bedrooms and a sea balcony above it. These rooms have been meticulously and tidily arranged to provide a better experience. Bathrooms are half inside and half outside the villa, and are complete with a little jacuzzi. The 24 Garden Villas are primarily located with relatively new swimming pools, which would be preferred by those who prefer to stay in the pool all day. Although as large as the Junior Suites they are, they are mellow in their feel and decor and are only a few steps from the beach.
