Malambe Police say they have received information that the Police Sergeant who allegedly attempted to shoot the OIC of the Malambe traffic division will surrender today (19) through a lawyer.
The incident had happened inside the Malabe police station canteen. Later, the OIC of the Traffic Division has made entries in the Traffic Offences Book in this regard and the Sergeant has been interdicted by the Nugegoda area Police Superintendent.
According to police sources, the police Sergeant has left the police station after the incident.
The absconding Sergeant is a 48-year-old resident of Molagoda area in Kandy.
Investigations are being conducted on the instructions of Malabe Police OIC, Chief Inspector Prasad Ratnayake.
