Making Housework Easier My Way

By Lollicious @lollicious

You might think from my shared or my pinterest account that we don't do anything but eat and look at recipes in our house. But there's a lot more going on! When I'm not writing or looking after the kids, we have housework that we need to do, just like anyone else. It's not always something I enjoy, but it needs to be done, and it can sometimes be relaxing - and even fun! It's still not my favorite thing in the world though, so I'm always looking for anything I can do to make it easier or at least less dull. Keep reading to find out some of my favorite tips.

Having the kids help out with can be a bit hit and miss. They don't always get the job done incredibly well, but it's fun to have them help. There's lots of tasks you can give little ones that are easy for them to do. Depending on their age, they could take out the garbage, feed the pets, set the table, and lots more. It's good for them to start helping out when they're younger, so they'll be more willing to do it later on. Plus, it's fun when we can dance around and do some cleaning together.

Not everyone is a superhero who can do everything. Well, they might be capable of doing all the housework, but it takes away precious time for other things. I don't think there's anything wrong with hiring some help, whether it's regular or just once in a blue moon. Besides, I have to have other people do some tasks. Things like suits and dresses have to go to the dry cleaners sometimes, for example. If a tree outside needs some work, I would much rather leave it to a tree surgeon than have a go myself! And sometimes it's nice to have someone come in and clean the house from top to bottom, just to get it to perfection.

Spending an entire day cleaning is the absolute worst. If I don't stay on top of it all during the week, I then have to waste my weekend scrubbing the whole house. No, thank you! I find that doing quick, small jobs during the week helps to keep everything clean without spending hours cleaning. Instead of doing a whole bathroom at once, I can spend just a couple of minutes swishing some bleach around the toilet or quickly wiping down the basin. I make sure the kitchen sink is shiny every time I use it and clean up any messes right away.

I like to have something to entertain me when I'm doing tedious chores. Sometimes it's talking to my daughter, or it could be listening to music or watching TV. Even an is fun to listen to while I'm making beds or folding laundry. It makes everything go much quicker, and it doesn't seem so dull.

Housework is a necessary evil that we all have to do. But you can always find ways to make it easier and get it all done.
