It's breakfast in San Antonio, how many of you are reaching for a breakfast taco? I know on most occasions, I do too! But as I have gotten a bit older, I have seen how too many carbs and diabetes has affected friends and family members, so the other morning, I opted for this Gluerna Vanilla Latte to keep me going steady ahead.
Because I need some caffeine in my life, I took my 8 oz. Glucerna Homemade Vanilla, about 4 oz. of brewed coffee, a large 24 oz cup of ice to make my morning shake. First, I poured the Glucerna drink and mixed with ice. Then, I poured the brewed coffee over. I prefer not stirring in because I love the darker coffee taste in the beginning and the sweeter vanilla taste at the end.
What I noticed is that because Glucerna is made with CARBSTEADY®, a slow-digesting carbohydrate formula, I was satisfied and held steady to lunch time. No crazy glucose spikes.
While I have not been diagnosed as pre-diabetic, diabetes hits close to home. It is estimated that 57 million people have pre-diabetes in the US, and 35% are estimated to be Hispanic. With my mother being pre-diabetic and maternal grandmother having to deal with the diabetes everyday before she passed, I know I may not be far along, so making better choices is definitely on my radar. And even if you are not affected by diabetes, Glucerna is a great way to managing your blood sugar or watching your weight.
I found the Glucerna shakes and bars right near the pharmacy section in Walmart.
