Lykke Li has filled headlines in the blogosphere lately with her very much anticipated upcoming album, I Never Learn. She claims that every song on the album is a “slow-burning power ballad,” a claim proven by recent singles “Gunshot”, “Love Me Like I’m Not Made of Stone”, and especially, “No Rest for the Wicked”.
The Swedish songstress explores themes of intimacy and separation in “No Rest for the Wicked”, motifs beautifully painted with the video she released this week. She has revealed this to be the result of writing during a difficult breakup as well as during the process of moving from Sweden. Li’s delicate-sounding vocals are heartfelt and quietly powerful while the cinematic instrumentals in the chorus lift the track up to a new level. The full album is due for release on May 5th, so stay tuned for a dynamite collection of songs.
