#lyf Chesterfield Canal Festival

Stavely doesn't exactly have the greatest of reputations, on the outskirts of Chesterfield it is better known for being on the dodgy side but at the weekend there was no sign of it. Somerset might be hosting a crazy few days of quirkiness and music but the Chesterfield Canal Festival comes a close second (I jest).

Based around the newly renovated canal basin the festival, over two days was blushed with sunshine and a host of entertainment to keep punters busy. I didn't get chance to enjoy the zorbing or watch the dog show as I was busy on the Beaumont Bags stall. Although the weather was nicer on Sunday and the attendance was far larger than the first day, when it came to bag sales Saturday was far more successful.

As Saturday went on the weather got warmer and warmer but Sunday was red hot all day, my red raw arms, legs and every other piece of skin showing proves that. I kept myself busy watching dogs pass by, all shapes and sizes, some with clothes, others just happy to be out in the sunshine. The festival site was well attended and there was plenty going, all day both days there was various acts performing in the main tent, stalls selling food, clothes and bits and bobs whilst the canal provided boat rides, zorbing,  there was a few fairground rides too.

Like the previous weekends Heeley Festival I was impressed by the organisation, spirit and the amount of activities going on but mostly the number of attendees who visited the site, it was very encouraging as it felt like village fetes died a few years back.
