“We met online in March 2016 and after a couple of exchanges, we instantly knew that there was some kind of connection and rapport building. After chatting daily about our lives and sharing opinions and fun banter, we decided to meet up after 2 months, and our relationship flourished from there. Matt proposed to Karen on a fabulous holiday in Cyprus in 2021. Matt rehearsed his speech while Karen was getting ready for dinner in the hotel’s Restaurant, as he wanted it to be perfect. As Matt fell to one knee squeezed between the table and his chair, Karen realised with shock that he was proposing. As Matt began his romantic heartfelt speech, Karen initially could only think of her horrendous hair with the humidity. However, as Matt’s beautiful words sank in, joy took over and we became engaged in the magical candlelight, under the stars in the privacy of an almost closing restaurant. The feeling of being engaged was both surreal and euphoric, as in our 50s, we were thrilled at finding our perfect soulmate”, Karen mentioned to us.

“Santorini provided the stunning backdrop to our cliff top wedding. Santorini is our happy place. Our color theme was ‘tomato’ red, a huge source of mirth and surprise in Greece as the usual gorgeous color themes tends to be white or pastel colours. My bouquet was white Calle lilies and bright red roses, with dangling crystals. The mirrored aisle was lined with a sea of red roses and flowers, interspersed with white roses, with large red rose balls on white pedestals (the red flower balls were later used as part of the table decorations). The ceremony area was a red and white rose covered gazebo., under which we exchanged their personally written vows. The reception table was enveloped in a nest of fairy lights, which reflected against the mirrored surface of the table. The long rectangular table was adored with the red rose flower balls high on crystal stands, with small red rose flower arrangement s along the table. The guests’ menus and place names were on mirrored”.

“I was following Chic and Stylish Weddings to see wedding dress styles and imaginative photography styles”.

“Our first Dance was our favorite moment from our wedding. We had fun rehearsing the steps we wanted to do. Our special song (which Karen also walked down the aisle to) was ‘I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You’ by UB40, particularly the fountain fireworks which were set off towards the end of our dance”.

“I tried on several dresses in four different bridal shops with friends in tow. As I had my heart set on a ‘white dress’ I decided to have my wedding dress privately made, incorporating a couple of elements of dresses I had seen. The criteria were ‘tight, white and sexy’”.

“We would like to thank our wonderful wedding planner Josephine from JP Destination weddings and all of our incredible vendors, as well as our amazing wedding guests from both Ireland and England, for helping to create the most magical best day of our lives. It surpassed all of our expectations and will forever be etched in our memories as an extraordinary, treasured experience!”

Bride’s advice: “Involve the groom in the wedding details as much as possible, for shared input. Allow 10% contingency in the wedding budget and enjoy food tasting (from at least 2 different vendors wife possible) and cake tasting. It’s great tasty fun!”
