Lumps of Coal Bath Bomb Recipe Preparing the Mixture

First, prepare a bottle of witch hazel.  Fill the 8 ounce bullet bottle with witch hazel.  Then, place the lid on top.  You will need this later in the recipe.

Also, we will go ahead and prepare the fillable ornaments molds.  First of all, you will need half of each ornament.  To each one, we added 8 grams of Hawaiian black salt coarse ground, but you can use less if you’d like.  Set these aside for now while we prepare the bath fizzy mixture.  We will come back to them.

Next, weigh out your dry ingredients.  In your mixing bowl, add 263 grams of baking soda, 68 grams of cornstarch, 30 Hawaiian black salt fine ground, 5 grams bentonite clay, and 1 gram activated charcoal.  Use your hands to mix the ingredients, breaking up any clumps as you mix.

Now, weigh out your oils and black oxide soap colorant.  You will need a second small mixing bowl.  Use your scale to weigh out 30 grams of coconut oil 76, 8 grams of black oxide FUN Soap Colorant, and 1 gram of Elf Sweat Fragrance Oil.

Then, use a spatula to add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.  Using your hands, mix them together completely.  Again, breaking up any clumps.

Finally, add the citric acid.  Weigh out 132 grams of citric acid, place this in the bowl with the other ingredients.  Once again, use your hands to mix the ingredients.  Also, make sure you are breaking up any clumps.

Lumps of Coal Bath Bomb Recipe Filling Your Molds

This is when you will need the bottle of witch hazel you prepared earlier.  Spray a small amount of witch hazel into the bowl.  Also, using your hands mix as you spray.  You want to continue spraying a bit, then mixing until you get the perfect consistency.  You want it to feel like wet sand.  You will be able to squeeze it and it will pack, yet it will still crumble a bit.

Next, begin filling your molds.  Place the mixture into one half of each mold.  In addition, you want to make sure you press down firmly.  In fact, if the mixture is too loose, it will crumble when you remove it from the molds.

Once you have the mixture packed into the molds, you will attach them.  However, prior to putting the ornaments together spray each side with witch hazel.  Then, put them together.

Finally, let the bath fizzies set up.  Then, remove them from the molds.  Also, make sure you remove them carefully and slowly.

Your Lumps of Coal Bath Bombs are now ready for use.  So, place an activated charcoal bath fizzy in your tub and let the fizzing begin!  Have you made an activated charcoal bath fizzy too?  Show us what you’ve made by posting them to our Facebook page or tagging us on Instagram @ngscents!
