Lumbar Pillow Tutorial

By Vixenmade @vixenMade

As warned, I have yet another pillow tutorial.

I was getting completely bored of my red pillows on my couch.. that I was on a pillow frenzy. I made these, the lumbar pillows and I bought some cute green damask ones (not shown).

Anyways, so here's a quick and easy tutorial on how to make it.  Seriously, SO easy.  So if you're a new to sewing, here's your project!
Get some fabric you love and let's get started.  I was really wanting some simple and plain yellow pillows, so that's what I chose.

Cut two pieces of your fabric measuring 26" x 14".

Press them with an iron to smooth out any wrinkles or fold lines.

Pin your pieces together, right sides in, all the way around your edges.

Leave a 4-5 inch gap for an opening, I double pin to ensure I don't sew it closed.

Sew around the perimeter of your pillow with a 1/2 inch seam allowance.

Clip your corners.

Using pinking shears, cut around the edges of your pillow.

Now flip your pillow right side out.  You can press your seams with an iron if you wish.

And then you can stuff your pillow with fibrefill.   I just so happened to have these pillows that came with our couch.  Obviously, I don't need them, so used their stuffing.  Yay for free pillow stuffing!

Stuff your corners first, then add it everywhere else.  Stuffing and forming as you go.

Once you're happy with the firmness, get some coordinating thread and a sewing needle.

Sew your opening closed using a ladder stitch.

That's it.  You're finished!

I love the yellow next my new pillows!

Have a great day!!
