True Blood’s Lucy Griffiths is the latest star to join the DC Comics adaptation of Preacher.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are producing AMC’s television adaptation of DC imprint Vertigo’s long-running comic.
Griffiths will co-star as Emily Woodrow, a no-nonsense single mother of three. Emily’s a waitress, the church organist, a bookkeeper and Jesse’s loyal right hand. Stoic and strong, wise beyond her years, she can’t help but have a little thing for Preacher Jesse.
Griffiths joins a cast that also includes This Is England’s Joseph Gilgun as Irish vampire Cassidy and Ian Colletti as Eugene Root (aka Arseface). The lead role of Jesse has not been cast yet.
For Griffiths, this marks the actress’ return to the comic world after she initially was attached to co-star in NBC’s Hellblazer take, Constantine. Griffiths is repped by DBA, Principal Entertainment and Hamilton Hodell.
