The second night of Lucius’ sold-out stint in NYC can be summed up by a random comment heard from the crowd: “This is the first show I’ve been to in a long time where I like the new music as much as the old.” The incredible band fronted by duo Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig played their unique pop sounds in support of their new album Good Grief, giving fans a taste of their boisterous new material and favorites from their debut.

Pure Bathing Culture opened the night, bringing a sultry, understated sound to the surface. Their music feels summery and light, but there’s a special weight to vocalist Sarah Versprille’s delivery. With crystal clear production and gentle yet lush instrumentals, they set the stage well, expressing their gratitude to Lucius while truly holding their own with a special performance.

Lucius then took the stage to a screaming crowd. The frontwomen were decked out in gorgeous blue capes and their trademark identical undercut hairstyles, as they belted lyrics and perfectly harmonized straight into the crowd’s hearts. The performance was powerful to say the least, delivering old favorites such as “Turn It Around” and new, particularly-energized hits like “Born Again Teen”. This band continues to deliver both on their recorded and live material, and it’s such a privilege to see their unique live performance get better and better. Lucius gave their fans an hour and a half long set, including an extended encore with stripped down songs and an appearance from Pure Bathing Culture to cover Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love”. All in all, it was a spectacular night, and we can’t wait for them to grace NYC with their presence again!
