The bride shared with us: “How we met… It is a funny story actually because we were from the same town having mutual friends, but we had NEVER met before till we went abroad to study medicine. George had chosen a different city for his studies, but 2 days before his departure, he changed his mind and decided to come to the town I was, too. So that’s fate! We met at the University and we didn’t like each other in the beginning. We were going out with friends and we fought for everything. Now that I am thinking about it, it is so funny! It was like the children who show their interest by teasing each other, so that was us till we realized that we fell for each other, and we were madly in love! We moved together from the first 3 months and now…. we count 9 incredible years! Honestly, none of us thought about getting married ever but that’s life, you never know what’s next….”

“He proposed in a very romantic place in the snowy mountains just one week before Christmas. The place was magical full of trees covered by snow and we could also hear the sound of the wild river running in the mountains. It is a very important place for him because he had been spending many summers there with his best friends and his grandparents. So, while we were hiking, he kneeled down, took the ring off and asked me if I wanted to be his person for the rest of our lives. Normally, I am not the romantic type of girl who was dreaming this moment all of her life, but being in that place, looking at his big blue eyes …oh… I busted into tears and I just hugged him…After a few days at Christmas Eve we had a Greek traditional engagement with our friends and our families…He could had proposed everywhere in the world, but I wanted it to be to a unique place that where we can go anytime, at any age, even when we are old!”

“It was difficult to find a wedding dress as I imagined. I couldn’t go to many fittings since I was abroad, so I was a bit disappointed, thinking that I had to compromise with a dress that was not the dress. In February when I came back to Greece for vacations, I went to Costantino Bridal Boutique and the moment I tried my wedding dress I knew this was it. It was an A line dress with French tulle skirt in ivory color with extra tulles in pale pink and glitter giving it a hidden, mysterious sparkle in the light and hand beaded French lace bustier in ivory too. I was in love with my veil which was in ivory color and I insisted to be very long around 5 metres.”

“My bouquet flowers had to be romantic, refreshing and elegant like our wedding, so I chose white peonies, eucalyptus, eryngium blue, Ornithogalum and wax white.”

“The unforgettable touching moment of my wedding was when I saw my husband waiting for me with the bouquet and he smiled at me with his eyes glowing from love and joy. That moment came to me a quote of Giannis Ritsos poem that says in Greek: ‘’Άξιζε να υπάρξουμε για να συναντηθούμε’’ means it was worth existing in this world just to meet each other…”

“As we wanted to get married by the sea in a summery breezy weather, we chose for our ceremony Koimiseos Theotokou Church in Lampiri and for our wedding reception Panagiotopoulos Resort. When we first went to the resort, we noticed not only the endless view of the ocean but also the view of the Imposing Koklova mountain that made us feel peaceful and in love with the place at first sight. Then, the decision was easy. We did the reservation for our wedding reception immediately. We chose Koimiseos Theotokou church because it was a small traditional blue-white church surrounded by trees with a mesmerizing sea view. It also had a breathtaking sunset with warm orange and gold colours that we thought it would be magical for our ceremony since it was at 20:00 in the evening.”

“The rice that is thrown in Greek weddings to the married couple at the end of the ceremony  as a tradition was in beautiful white seashells with a pearl sparkling inside them like it was out of a fairy tale.”

“We decided along with our wedding planner Varvara that the decoration in church and the reception should be romantic and simple, according to the wedding colors. At the entrance of the church there were two white flowerpots decorated with beautiful white peonies and eryghium blue, and inside two big candles with the same flowers.”

“The dessert table we had to welcome our guests was full of gold details combined with beautiful white peonies, eryghium blue, wax white, white candles and seashells. In addition, a variety of delicious desserts such as handmade butter biscuits decorated in light blue with our initial letters in Greek, white cupcakes with blueberries on top as well as meringue sweets with a layer of gold was made by our talented wedding planner herself.”

“The resort was decorated with impressive garland lights, a lighted photo booth along with a book of wishes. Our guests’ tables were mainly decorated in white with only one gold geometric candle and some fresh flowers. The table we were sitting with our family was a wooden monastery type table with gold and white geometric candles and some flowers with white peonies as well.”

“I never was one of those dreamy, wedding-planning girls but when we decided to get married, I was very excited. I knew from the beginning the concept and the colors of our wedding since we both wanted to be by the sea. For us it was difficult to plan a wedding since I was studying abroad, and my husband was working with shifts at the hospital. So, at first, I was looking for weddings with the same style to Chic and Stylish Weddings and it actually helped me a lot and gave me ideas that I didn’t have in mind. During the process though, me and my husband met with our wedding planner Varvara and it was like she was in our mind the whole time. She arranged everything as we had been dreaming without us worrying and getting so much involved.”

Bride’s advice to a bride-to-be: “I can advise all the brides to hire a wedding planner if they can afford it, as a present to themselves! The stress is eliminated, and the competences are all up to experts. Moreover, two simple things they can try in order to be calmer the week before the wedding are to have their dearest friends close and focus on their future husband and the reasons they fell in love with him.”
