Love Is Strange

An elderly gay couple (Alfred Molina and John Lithgow) decides to wed which results in the former being dismissed from his teaching gig at a Catholic grade school. Unable to make rent, they loses their Manhattan apartment and are forced to suffer the indignity of accepting charity from family members. Ira Sachs' Love is Strange is one of those relevant movies released in a timely fashion but completely lacking urgency and blandly told. The film receives a nice boost from Molina's strong performance. ** 1/2 out of ****
