It’s only early June, but it already feels like summer is in full swing (not to mention it was 85˚ yesterday!). My graduation is next week, and we’re heading to Maine for a wedding right after that. A couple weeks later and it’s on to Michigan, for a week at the lake! This past weekend, Brien and I were lucky to share our house in Southampton with my parents, who made the stay that much brighter.
We spent the weekend in the usual way: lingering over breakfast, lounging with books, luxuriously napping in the middle of the day.
A long walk, right before dusk:
I love these colors! They’re summer colors.
On Saturday night, we celebrated my dad’s birthday at The Coast Grill. Service was a little spotty, but it was lovely to overlook the marina on what felt like our own little island.
Before we returned to our concrete jungle on Sunday, my dad had the brilliant idea to pick up two dozen shucked oysters, which we enjoyed on the porch with cold white wine, and chased with butter-cooked soft-shelled crabs. It was wonderfully decadent, and a nice way to say “see you later!” to the house in Southampton, which we won’t be returning to until August.
