Lotus Crush | “Rabbit Hole”

If you are looking for a more Rock sound but don’t know where to start I have the right band for you to listen to. Lotus Crush is a band formed from four guys. These guys are not new to the music scene and you can tell that rom the music they create on this album called “Rabbit Hole”.

The members of Lotus Crush include: Terry McDermott (you might notice his name if you are a big fan of The Voice. He was the runner up in 2012.), Peter Keltt (Candlebox), Island Styles (Jimmy’s Chicken Shack) and Mark Mattrey.

On April 14th the band released their first debut album and I was very pleased when I pressed play and the first song off the album came on called “Hearts and Minds.”. The way they have the guitars in the start of the song helps pulls you in and the cords can’t help but stay in your head. I know whenever I get done listening to a song I keep humming the cords and that is what you want in the song to make the listening stay with you throughout the whole song. The band also did a great job on putting the guitar solo in the middle. Sometimes when this is done I feel like it is just there for no reason but they made it feel like there was no thought to it and made it go with the flow of the whole song. This is a great song to have on your playlist for all of the summer driving you will be having and also all of the parties you maybe having.

The next song that grabbed the attention of my ears was “Heavens Hell”. If you are a loyal reader to this blog you know that I am a sucker for strings in a song. Well they did it with this one! They start off the song with these amazing strings and keep them throughout the song. I also love how this song shows a softer side to the rock band then you normally would hear. This song also reminds me of the band Daughtry. This song is also just great to listen to with your eyes close and listen to them painting the picture of this story. They also give the strings their own solo. Again this band is very well at giving solos in the middle of songs and making it feel so natural and perfect.

The last song I’m going to mention is called “Hold On”.  The start of this song is very acoustic. Then when the vocals start everything joins in but it’s still soft…emotional. This song is full of passion and I love that. I also love how when the chorus is going everything comes in but when it’s the verses is softer and lighter.

It was hard for me to choose just these three songs to talk about. This whole album is a masterpiece that everyone must have. It’s a five out of five stars for me.
