…Lose Focus

By Zer @the2women

Don’t freak out, this isn’t an early “Hobbit” review. If it was, I would be freaking out too.

This is about a different matter. Allegations have been brought up against the new film series, and they need to be addressed. No, not the reports of animal abuse brought up by PETA (those chickens may have lived short lives, but I’m sure they were better than most of their feathered friends and some humans).

Claims are being made that the 3D film’s high frame rate is disorienting.

For those who don’t speak film, most films are shot at a frame rate of 24 frames per second. “The Hobbit” was shot at 48 frames per second. The result is an incredibly clear 3D image.

What’s not so clear is why this is even an issue.  It’s no secret that some people are more susceptible to motion sickness.  Some of us could spin in circles all day and not feel a thing.  Others turn around to quickly and can feel the floor quickly approaching.

So, will “The Hobbit” make you dizzy?

Well, if you’ve suffered from 3D motion sickness before, then yes, it probably will.  If not, then odds are you’ll just get to enjoy 3D cinema the way it should be, like you’re actually there.
