Lore City: Kill Your Dreams

Lore City is releasing as a new record this Spring called, “Kill Your Dreams” offered on Vinyl LP on Already Dead Tapes (Chicago/Kalamazoo) and 1980 Records (Chicago). This is their first release since their premier offering called, “Absence & Time”.  They have released a teaser track from the new album called, Gone Past. It has a very 80′s vibe with full orchestral synths throughout that blend nicely with melancholy distorted guitars. The female lead vocals by Laura Mariposa are very Portishead in style, almost operatic, and full of emotion. Her voice is etherial and speaks to part of you that knows pain. She almost seems to pull it out of you and you feel better after hearing it. With this introduction to their new album I can imagine that “Kill Your Dreams” will have a very atmospheric and dream like theme perfect for travel, walking through the woods, or driving late at night. Fans of Portishead, Elliot Smith, Tricky, and Radiohead will enjoy Lore City.
