It took just a few bars for “Everest” to make my ears happy. In the mecca of musical talent that is London, Looks have crafted a standout synth tune that rocks through passing waves of psychedelic haze. The track is deeply layered with funky guitar rifts, addictive and pulsating synths, blurred vocal harmonies and a baseline that just won’t quit. Coming and going with smoothly produced waves of intensity and soft swells, “Everest” is an impressive start for the three-piece and urges to be heard in a live setting. Mirroring the style of the song, the video (directed by Wes C.), captures the essence of band’s live performance with a focus on the clever manipulation of simplistic color themes, minimalism and motion. “Everest” is out now on Killing Moon Records.
