Looks Like At Least 4 Brands Paid Tens of Thousands Each To Register 6 .Shop Domain

Yesterday, September 1, 2016, was the first day of the Early Access Program (EAP) for .Shop.

I found six .Shop domain registrations that were made on September 1 by 4 brand-holders.

It’s possible these registrations could have been made in the Sunrise period if the brands were registered with the Trademark Clearinghouse but Sunrise for .Shop closed on August 29, 2016.

First day of EAP registrations vary by domain registrar.

For example 101domain.com was charging $30,000 for a day one EAP fee (plus the cost of registration); while Name.com was charging $40,000 for a day one EAP registration

Here are the registrations I found:

COS.Shop and H-M.SHOP were registered by H&M Hennes & Mauritz AB of Stockholm both through MarkMonitor.com

Lego.Shop was registered by LEGO Juris AS through CSC Corporate Domains.

Loewe.Shop was registered by Louis Vuitton through CSC Corporate Domains.

Tsubaki.Shop and Tsubakimoto.Shop were registered by Tsubakimoto Chain Co through CSC Corporate Domains.

Of course there maybe other registrations which we will have to dig through but using 101domain.com rates that $180,000 in EAP fees; using Name.com it would be $240,000 in EAP fees.

We do not have access to the rate MarkMonitor.com or CSC charged for day one.
