In the 15 years since, the brewery has gathered a near fanatical following for its tasty brews including its cheekily named Come Hell or High Watermelon Wheat. But, for residents of Florida, actually purchasing the brewery’s beers at their local store was impossible. Like the repeal of Prohibition, the dark days without 21st Amendment brews are over. Beginning late September, Champion Brands in Jacksonville, Fla. wil begin distributing 21st Amendment Come Hell or High Watermelon with three year-round brews — Back in Black, Brew Free! or Die IPA and Down to Earth – in October.
“We’re excited to bring our beers to Jacksonville and the rest of northern Florida,” said co-owner and head brewer O’Sullivan. “Our brand new brewery in San Leandro, Calif. has allowed us to expand distribution to territories we’ve been hoping to break into – and Florida was at the top of that list.”
21st Amendment’s year round staples will all initially be available at smaller, independent retailers like finer beer bars and shops in northeast Florida, with plans to expand into larger retail stores and further across the state in the coming months.
“Our fans in Florida have been asking for our beers for some years now” explained co-founder Freccia. “We’re hopeful that by this spring we’ll also be sharing our Insurrection Series and limited edition releases with Florida beer enthusiasts.”
21st Amendment will also be hosting a series of public launch events to celebrate the expansion with more details to follow in the coming weeks. For now, look for Hell or High Watermelon on tap at the end of this month and year round six-packs at local liquor stores.
