But if you only take one walking tour this week, why not make it…
Urban Geology - the Building Stones of UCL & Gower Street
Meet at Warren Street Tube Saturday 8th October 2016 2:30p.m
Volcanoes, seas and mountain chains on Gower Street.
All Hail to yet another Urban Geology Walk. As always, it's guided by a professional Geologist.
This walk – like its cousins in the family of Ruth's and Sophy's series of Building Stones of London Walks – peers into the depths of the glossy exteriors of building stones to reveal that legacy of volcanoes, seas and mountain chains.
To say nothing of millions of years "building" building stones. Aeons and a whole world in a few acres of London. How do you go wrong with a walk that's got intellectual rigour, great content and changes the way you see every building you encounter? That reveals unexpected aspects of the history of geology. That sheds light on the global origin of the building materials used in the construction of several centuries of buildings on and just off Gower Street.
