London’s hosting of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games is widely considered to have been a huge success. Much of the credit for the efficient, smooth running of the Games must go to the armies of purple and pink-clad Games Makers, who volunteered in their thousands to lend a helping (big pink) hand.

The Games Makers’ sunny attitude on rainy days delighted attendees and athletes alike. In fact, the Games Makers were so popular that they received a standing ovation from 80,000 people at the Olympic Games’ closing ceremony. In recognition of their efforts, the London 2012 organisers have put out a Thank You Games Makers video fronted by British comedian Eddie Izard. It celebrates their Stakhanovite (and unpaid) efforts, and has raced to over 20,000 views of YouTube.
