A Lockheed P-38F Lightning, White 33, taxis after performing at the 2017 Pikes Peak Regional Airshow. This is the most recent P-38 added to the short list of flyable survivors in the world.  This aircraft was scrapped in New Guinea in 1944 after a nosewheel collapse, then buried in a pit after the war.  Recovered in 1999, the wreckage ended up at Westpac Restoration in Colorado Springs where the most comprehensive P-38 restoration ever done was performed, and is one of only two flying P-38s with working turbochargers.  This aircraft is restored to its original 475th Fighter Group wartime markings.
