Actually, the company is about to change the HTTPS icon appearing in the address bar of Google Chrome. Instead of this lock icon, users can get to see a new icon. Let us tell you that this icon tells about the original and fake website, which is opened by the user.

Because of this the lock icon will change

According to a report by 9to5 Google, Google Want to give new Material You design to your platform, so lock icon will be changed. But, its security will not be compromised in any way. Material You isn’t just for Pixel smartphones, but for apps like Google Docs, Gmail, and Calendar.

The report further states that the company believes that the main purpose of the lock icon is to inform users about websites whose URLs do not start with HTTPS. With the introduction of the new icon, when users tap on the icon, they will also get information related to the website and its security.

New tune icon will be seen

The report suggests that the company is going to add a new tune icon to the address bar of Google Chrome. From mobile to web users will get to see the new icon. When users click on the icon, they will get all the necessary information related to the website along with the site settings. The company feels that the presence of a lock icon is no longer a sign that a website is secure, as hackers have become so advanced that they are able to use HTTPS and the lock icon in phishing sites.

Google did the survey

The company also conducted a survey for the new icon, which revealed that only 11 percent of the participants were aware of the lock icon.

When will you see the new icon

As per the report, the new icon will come with the Chrome 117 update, which will be released in September this year. Apart from this, many features can also be added to the web browser under the update.

Incognito Tab updated

Recall that earlier this year, Tech Giant Google updated Incognito Tab keeping in mind the security of the users. New feature added in this tab, so user can lock it and no one will be able to open this tab. The feature in the tab works just like a fingerprint sensor. This facility can be operated manually.
