Locals Only Beer Fest Coming to Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce January 25

By Marc Wisdom @JaxBeerGuy

The next few months are going to be busy in the beer world. There are special releases, beer festivals and beer dinners happening all over Jacksonville and the state of Florida. And, on Saturday, January 25, one of the year’s first is happening in downtown Jacksonville at the Chamber of Commerce. To begin the official countdown to One Spark, the Chamber is hosting a Locals Only beer festival in their parking lot.

One Spark is the mega crowd-funding expo that will take place in downtown Jacksonville April 9-13. There are 74 days until the second annual event begins. Participants showcase their best ideas for a chance to access $310,000 in crowdfunds and cash awards, millions of dollars in capital investments and direct contributions from attendees and backers around the globe. Last year the five-day event attracted more than 150,000 attendees to downtown Jacksonville.

The Locals Only Beer fest will feature beers from every local Jacksonville brewery – the first time all of the Jacksonville breweries have been at a festival at the same time — as well as food trucks and music from Spark Grant Songwriter Residency Program recipient Sean Spellman from the band Quiet Life on Subpop.

Breweries that will be represented at the event include:

  • Aardwolf Brewing Company
  • Bold City Brewing Company
  • Engine 15 Brewing Company
  • Green Room Brewing Company
  • Intuition Ale Works
  • Pinglehead Brewing Company

In addition to these established breweries, Ron Gamble of the soon-to-be-open Veterans United Craft Brewery will be present with samples of the beers he will be serving when his brewery opens in May. This is your first opportunity to taste these beers and they are sure to whet your thirst for more from this new brewery.

Food trucks expected to be at the event include:

  • Super Food Truck
  • Christopher Bean Coffee Company
  • Corner Taco
  • Baby’s Badass Burgers
  • Lil’ Gabriel’s

There is no admission charge for the event, but beers and food must be purchased. The event begins at 2:00 p.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m.
