Local Color: The Happy Hour

"Color has got me. I no longer need to chase after it. It has got me for ever. I know it. That is the meaning of this happy hour" -Paul Klee
The Hooded Cape Fashion Show at Bows + Arrows last Friday was more than okay- it was a FANTASTIC time. I can't remember when I've enjoyed a crowd so much. Many of my favorite Sacramentans were there, from the alluring Ann Tindall, Kerry Dolan, + Arielle Madrone, to the folks from Martin Mattox, Kris Laskey and her sunshine of a sister, Barbara; there were so many lovelies who came out to see the show. Even more enjoyable was seeing a large number of folks show up in hooded capes of their own,  with many of the capes worn were from the beloved Sac-town label, BUTT UGLY.  Oh, I wish I had pictures to share with you! There were so many people there snapping snaps that night, but not a whisper to the whereabouts of any images from the event. If I can find some, I'll post them; the show and the attendees really were a sight to behold.

Local Color: The very colorful Lindsay Rickman and I met for coffee at the Java Lounge

As you may or may not know, that was my first ever runway modelling, and I did it for Lindsay Rickman. She made two incredible patchwork capes for the show, both of them standouts. It was fun to be in the show with some of the gamest girls, like Kerry and Ann who modeled capes for the ladies at Crimson & Clover.  Both were last minutes additions to the line-up,  but you wouldn't know it as they were both mesmerizing on the runway- Ann even boogied her way up the stairs of the mini-stage! For the record, I didn't trip or fall, but aside from not falling on my ass, I wasn't particularly remarkable, so don't think Ford Models is going to be calling me anytime soon; best I keep my day-job as a fashion blogger.
And a fashion blogger I shall be. Let me just say, that the crowd and the events that you'll find at Bows + Arrows are more than enough to keep me busy. Bows has such a relevant charm to it, that it's a definite must see on any visiting Sacramento itinerary. The Sacramento fashion scene has really been booming lately, and there's some great culture watering holes to soak up all of its local color. A great spot for spotting said local color is the coffee-cultured all-ages show venue, the Java Lounge off Broadway. This is where the pictures you see here were taken, in front of a colorful mural painted on the side of the building. A simple menu, coffee and bevvies are served up at the Java Lounge while Lob Instagon books great national and local talent for their all-ages shows. You can see who's playing and when on their Facebook page, so click HERE for details.
So, local color has got me,  but who knows what brightens our horizons? All I know is that life is saturated full of possibilities right about now, so it's time to meet-up with some friends and celebrate.
   Cheers, mates.    -Bella Q
