Living Room Pelmet

By Heather @home_modern

This is what I’ve been up to in the living room–making a pelmet for each of the corner windows, which is really just one giant pelmet attached at the corner. I won’t give a DIY here because there are great ones here and here that I consulted. I also pulled out all of my vintage sewing and home decor books trying to decide on the shape of pelmet that I wanted.

These are constructed entirely out of foam core board from Office Depot and a clear duct tape that I found there as well. I covered the foam core board with batting and fabric and added a piping in the same fabric for a finished look. I used an “L” shelf bracket from Lowes to attach the pelmet to the wall. This thing is an engineering marvel.

The fabric is the same one I featured here. I’m currently in the process of making pinch pleat drapes to go under the pelmet.

Let’s just say that now I understand why custom draperies cost so much!
