Katharine & Steve Got Married!

Well this year is really shaping up to be something else! Katharine & Steve’s Valentine’s day wedding a few weeks ago was just absolutely gorgeous and so much fun. the morning began with Katherine getting ready at her parent’s home and Steve getting ready at his parent’s house. I have to admit a little secret – I love it when couples get ready in the family home. I know it isn’t always practical, and for some mums, the thought of a crowded house full of people being photographed is enough to send them down into a cleaning OCD rabbit hole. But when it does work out as the best location for morning prep – I couldn’t be happier. Invariably a family home is full of memories and trinkets, little remembrances of the lives lived which lead up to the wedding day. Photos of the couple dating and even maybe a little goldmine of parental wedding photos. Nothing reminds me more of the importance of my job than seeing family wedding photos lovingly displayed. Seeing the bride or groom’s parents in their younger years, looking fresh faced and excited to start out their married life together. It brings it all full circle.

Katherine and Steve’s wedding ceremony took place at the awesome…awesome….awesome St. George’s Hall in Liverpool. It is just the most gorgeous location – both inside and out – if you are going to have a city wedding. Liverpool is such a lively city on an average day, but we had an abundance of very pink light for a few cheeky photos after the ceremony. I do love a good bit of winter light and all the amazing colours it brings. Only rarely in August do you see such fantastically pink light. The party picked up at Oh Me Oh My! over in the dockside area. If you have never been to Oh Me Oh My! for dinner – you really should go. They have the most gorgeous food and a fantastic atmosphere. Such a perfect location for an evening reception. We took some photos on the roof terrace and got even more of that great light and a fabulous view of the clock tower. Sigh… so much awesome for one wedding.

After some really tear-jerking speeches (seriously people – I am a sympathy crier….. you cry… I cry….. then we are all crying…..) the party got on in earnest and everyone danced until the wee hours of the morning. Throwing shapes until the sun comes up – now that is how every wedding should be.

Congratulations Katharine & Steve – thanks for letting us capture your awesome wedding!
