Being in college is not only hard but it is also very time consuming. With tests and homework always in the way, who has time for anything else? It is a wonder that anyone in college is able to stay in shape, yet, I still see people go to the gym or run every day. That is great for them but not everyone has the time to spend an hour or two everyday to work out. If you are feeling out of shape, but also feel like you need to work out every day, you can still do little things every single day that will help you stay in shape.

Take the Stairs

We are always tempted to take an elevator whenever we get the chance. It is probably out of sheer laziness that we do this. Instead of taking the elevator in every building, take the stairs and work out those legs. Even if you don’t have time to go run six miles for the day, just make sure you are walking up the stairs. Doing that extra work will make you feel a lot better about yourself. Even that extra bit of walking will surprisingly do you good.

Don’t go out to eat

College students have a very bad tendency to eat out a lot. It is so tempting to go to a fast food place, order, and have your food hot and ready in less than five minutes! Sometimes we feel like fast food is going to be faster than making a meal at home. Sometimes this is true; however, there are meals that are just as good as fast food that are actually faster to make. Try making mac and cheese or throwing a salad together. This automatically makes your meal healthier than that greasy fast food.

Walk to school

If you normally take a car to school, try walking instead. Walking to school will help you exercise while going somewhere so you aren’t wasting time.  If you live way too far from campus, ride your bike or a long board. This will save time and you will still be exercising. Even if you don’t have that hour every day to exercise, substituting driving with walking will get you that little bit of exercise that you need.

Drink more water

Another bad habit that college students have is not drinking enough water. They substitute water with coffee or soda. Instead of drinking these unhealthy beverages that are bad for your body, drink water instead. If you think you’ll forget, just carry a water bottle with you wherever you go. You can refill it whenever you need to and best of all, it’s free! Drinking water constantly will get your mind off of hunger which will help you stay healthy. Water is just empty calories and it will do your body no harm whatsoever.
